HIKING TRAIL: HILLY CHURCHES OF GORENJSKA
 
From one to other hilly church of Gorenjska

Hiking trail: Hilly churches of Gorenjska visites of the 17 hilly churches. These churches dictate, where it goes. We can start the trail in any part and in any direction.

We suggest that you start the 1. stage in Begunje on Gorenjska or you can start in Kamna Gorica near of Radovljica. If you start the hike in Kamna Gorica and you finish the hike in Tržič and you would able to cross mountain Dobrča, you would need only 7 stages.

In 2. stage we climb from Tržič to mountain Kriška gora more accurate Tolsti vrh (1715 m), from where  we drop to Preddvor.

In 3. stage we walk from Preddvor to Jakoba, from where we come back to Preddvor. We go from Preddvor to Možjanca (679 m), Štefanja Gora (693 m) and we hike to finish in Cerklje in Gorenjska.

In 4. stage we go from Cerklje in Gorenjska to Valburge across the Ljubljana basin. We need this stage that we come to the Škofja loka hills.

In 5. stage we walk across the Ljubljana basin, until we start to climb from village Sora toward Osolnik, where is church of st. Mohor and Fortunat (858 m). We hike from Osolnik to Škofja Loka.

In 6. stage we go from Škofja Loka under pick of the Lubnik to village st. Tomaž (645 m). We go down from st. Tomaž to village Praprotno, which lei in Selška vally. We go from Selška vally to the ridge, where are villages: Križna gora and Planica. When we pass the ridge and we go down to Sorško field, we must go to Šmarjetna Mountains.

In 7. stage we go down from Šmarjetna Mountains to Rakovice, from where we climb over Zabukovje to the st. Jošt (847 m). We continue the trail to Zabrekve, where we visit church of st. Mohorja (952 m). We go from Mohor to Podblica and Jamnik, from where we go down to Kropa and we continue the trail to the Kamna Gorica.

In 8. stage we go from Kamna Gorica to the Begunje in Gorenjska.

Total lenght of trail is 155 km. We will do around 7191 m of the climb and around 7194 m of the descent.

By trail we have a good hotel and pub offer.We can use a public bus, train, plane and taxi. Between the hike we can admite the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, Julian Alps, Karavanke, Škofja Loka hills, Polhov Gradec hills, Jelovica, Mežakla ... The most we hike across the existing marked trails, some part of trails are without of the signs. We recommend to use of GPS device, because on the website: http://lebinca.com/church we find the GPS tracks, which were recorded along trails. On the website we can find the all information for hike. Clips of the outside and the inside of churches will be useful which are usually lock.
